DESCRIPTION: Mixed lot pillar & scroll, Elisha Hotchkiss 30 hour time and strike wooden works and backboard, c1830, now associated with newer mahogany case.
CONDITION: Hotchkiss was not a maker of the pillar & scroll style, but parts from another style of his became the foundation of a well-made reproduction slightly higher than normal to accommodate the longer-drop pendulum. The wood dial, with one horizontal crack, is newly painted, as is the lower door tablet. The case has a bit of veneer loss at the top, and is missing its door lock and escutcheon.
